GTA 6 price check: no US retailer has yet gone below $79.99
The official price of the Standard edition has not moved since pre-orders opened on June 25, 2026: $79.99 in the United States. No American retailer has been recorded selling the boxed copy below that figure.

Grand Theft Auto VI’s Standard edition sells for $79.99 in the United States, and no American retailer has been recorded below that price since pre-orders opened. Take-Two set the figure in its release of June 24, 2026, with the Ultimate Edition at $99.99. The next day, IGN’s Robert Anderson listed the five chains taking pre-orders on the boxed version: Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy, Target and GameStop, all at $79.99.

Store prices come from Take-Two’s release of June 24, 2026 and from the product pages as they stood on August 28, 2026. The retail line is IGN’s and dates from June 25, 2026: no dated survey of American shelf prices has been published since, so it is two months old. Nothing here is converted from another currency. Rockstar sets each market on its own, and Vice’s country by country reading of June 29, 2026 put Canada at CA$109.99 and CA$139.99.
The Ultimate cannot be bought in a box at all. Rockstar’s support page reads: “A physical version of the Grand Theft Auto VI: Ultimate Edition is not available.” A Standard owner can add the Ultimate Edition Upgrade once the download code has been used, and the American Microsoft Store lists that upgrade at $20.00. Add it up. $79.99 plus $20.00 is $99.99, the Ultimate price to the cent, so buying in two steps saves nothing at American prices. No bonus belongs to one seller. “There aren’t store-exclusive preorder bonuses, so you can buy from wherever you prefer without missing out on trinkets,” wrote Brad Bourque in The Verge on July 5, 2026. What does separate the five is the date: GamesRadar reported on June 29, 2026 that Walmart, Best Buy and Amazon promise delivery on November 12, while GameStop holds to November 19 with 2 to 3 business days of shipping. GTA6 LIFE runs no affiliate links: no line above pays this site. Rockstar has announced no promotion and no price cut for the end of 2026, and Strauss Zelnick was still defending the number on August 7, 2026: “I think that Rockstar feels that offering phenomenal value at $80 makes sense for some consumers.”
