GTA 6 language options: 13 listed, only English is spoken
Grand Theft Auto VI arrives on November 19, 2026 with thirteen languages on its store page and no label telling you which ones you will hear. Only one audio track has ever been described anywhere: English.
GTA6 LIFE

Grand Theft Auto VI goes on sale on November 19, 2026 with thirteen languages listed on its Rockstar Store page, and nothing on that page says which of the thirteen you will hear. The available languages block, read on the store on August 28, 2026, runs: English, French, Italian, German, Russian, Japanese, Polish, Korean, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Spanish (Mexico), Spanish (Spain), Portuguese (Brazil). Menus, subtitles and voices are never separated.
One listing has separated them. On July 31, 2026, Rockstar Mag reported that the Xbox Store page for GTA VI showed thirteen interface languages, thirteen subtitle languages and a single audio track, English. Set the two readings side by side and twelve of the thirteen entries become text on a screen.
| Language | Listed as available by Rockstar | Described as an audio track |
|---|---|---|
| English | Yes | Yes |
| French | Yes | No |
| Italian | Yes | No |
| German | Yes | No |
| Russian | Yes | No |
| Japanese | Yes | No |
| Polish | Yes | No |
| Korean | Yes | No |
| Simplified Chinese | Yes | No |
| Traditional Chinese | Yes | No |
| Spanish (Mexico) | Yes | No |
| Spanish (Spain) | Yes | No |
| Portuguese (Brazil) | Yes | No |
The middle column comes from the Rockstar Store block checked on August 28, 2026. The right column comes from the Xbox Store listing as Rockstar Mag described it on July 31, 2026. Rockstar Games has never put those two columns next to each other: no support article for GTA VI splits audio from subtitles, and the product page offers a flat list of thirteen names, with no column headings and no footnote.
Thirteen entries are not thirteen languages, either. Spanish is there twice, for Mexico and for Spain, and Chinese twice, Simplified and Traditional. Counted as tongues rather than as store entries, the list is eleven long, and one of the eleven, English, is the one that gets a voice.
The GTA V precedent, on the record since January 2025
Rockstar’s official support page for GTA V, updated in January 2025, states that the game’s only complete audio track is English, with interface and subtitles in thirteen languages. Same count, same split, on a game released on September 17, 2013. That page is the document the specialist press has been reasoning from for months: when GTA Zone took stock on June 3, 2026, Rockstar had published no language list at all for GTA VI.
The studio has not dubbed one of its games into a language other than English in more than fifteen years. Rockstar Mag sums up that historical position as an artistic choice, driven by a search for dialogue that stays close to how people actually speak, and by the absence of suitable translations in some countries. Take that for what it is, a press summary. Rockstar Games has issued no dated statement on the languages of GTA VI, on the Newswire or anywhere else.

Two official listings that do not match
The two readings disagree on a specific point, and the gap has not been closed. The Rockstar Store block includes Portuguese (Brazil) among its thirteen. The list Rockstar Mag read on the Xbox Store on July 31, 2026 mentions Portugal instead, and includes neither Brazilian Portuguese, which GTA 5 does offer, nor Turkish.
Two official pages, two inventories. As of August 28, 2026, neither had been amended. The useful conclusion is not that one of them is right: it is that these listings are still moving 82 days out from release, and a language set copied off a store page in August carries no promise for November.
Regional codes, the part nobody has answered
Every buyer downloads this game, boxed buyers included. Rockstar states it plainly on its support page updated June 24, 2026: “The physical version of GTAVI will contain a download code that can be used for the digital download of the game. A disc will not be included in the box.” Preload opens on November 12, 2026 at midnight local time, and the boxes reach shelves the same day.
Whether that download code is tied to a region has not been stated. Nothing on the support page, the product page or the Microsoft Store listing says whether a box bought in one country redeems on an account registered in another, which is the question anyone importing a copy for a language reason would want settled. It is also the question the two clashing listings make sharper, since the language set is written per storefront rather than per game.

What that means with a controller in hand
You will read this game unless you play it in English. On the strength of both listings, dialogue arrives in English and everything else arrives as text, including during stretches where your eyes are busy elsewhere. That is the friction no store page mentions: a subtitle during a conversation in a moving car is not consumed the way a subtitle in a cutscene is.
The Extended Look gives an idea of the load. Sony’s product page describes those 26 minutes and 48 seconds as captured entirely from in-game footage on PlayStation 5, and the same page that details Tempest 3D audio and adaptive triggers says nothing about voice tracks.
Language changes nothing about what you pay. The Microsoft Store listing checked on August 28, 2026 puts the Standard Edition at $79.99 and the Ultimate Edition at $99.99, digital only for the latter. The rest of that arithmetic sits in our editions guide, and the retailer side of the boxed code is in our pre-order guide.
What is not known as of August 29, 2026
Rockstar Games has never publicly addressed the absence of dubbing on GTA VI, neither to explain it nor to rule it out. No support page for the game separates audio languages from subtitle languages, unlike the one that exists for GTA V. No post-launch language addition has been raised, in either direction.
Two pages are worth checking by hand before November 19, 2026: the Rockstar Store block, which could gain an audio label between now and then, and the Xbox Store listing, currently the only one of the two that splits interface, subtitles and voice. The console you buy has no bearing on any of it, since the same names appear on Sony’s side and Microsoft’s side, which leaves the PS5 or Xbox question exactly where it was. What the game will actually sound like, station by station, is our soundtrack guide.
