GTA 6 Leonida Keys: Rockstar has not named a single island

The Leonida Keys are one of six destinations Rockstar Games has named and described for Grand Theft Auto VI, on the “Only in Leonida” page it put online on May 6, 2025, the day of the second trailer. The archipelago carries the title “Gateway to Paradise”, and the studio gives it three sentences. This is the southern end of the state of Leonida, in a game due November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Here is Rockstar’s copy in full:
The dress code is casual, the bars are loaded. Life in this tropical archipelago isn’t flashy but it’s easy. Get your buzz on and pull up a deck chair but look out: you are right on the doorstep of some of the most beautiful and dangerous waters in all of America.
That is everything Rockstar has written about the region itself. The Keys do surface once more in official copy, on a character page: Jason Duval is described there as a man who, “after a stint in the Army trying to shake off his troubled teens, found himself in the Keys doing what he knows best, working for local drug runners.” One sentence, and no island in it either.

What the studio never does is name an island, a town or a neighbourhood down there. The gap is obvious next to Vice City, whose official paragraph names Ocean Beach, Little Cuba, the Tisha-Wocka flea market and VC Port. For the Keys, not one place name. So the island names in circulation arrive from elsewhere, and not all from the same elsewhere.
| Island name | What stands behind it |
|---|---|
| none | Rockstar’s own text on the Keys, published May 6, 2025 |
| Key Lento, Watson Bay | location lists in the specialist press, which read them as Key Largo and Cedar Key |
| Catalan Bay, Catalan Key, Gloriana Key | material put online without authorisation on August 18, 2026, which Rockstar has neither validated nor denied, and which we do not relay |
The archipelago itself did appear in An Extended Look, the 26 minutes and 48 seconds released on August 27, 2026. Vice counted it among the places seen, alongside Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia, Mount Kalaga and Grassrivers.
One line from that day’s coverage is worth correcting: Engadget wrote “the Leonida Keys (including fake Miami)”, which puts the fake Miami inside the archipelago. The fake Miami of GTA 6 is Vice City. The Keys are the island chain to the south, modelled on the Florida Keys, and Rockstar has still published no map of Leonida at all.
