GTA 6 Vice City: 20 years on, only 4 places have official names
Vice City is the metropolis of Leonida and the main setting of GTA 6. Rockstar Games officially names only four places inside it, in a text published on May 6, 2025, and no game in the series has been set there since 2006.
GTA6 LIFE

Vice City is the metropolis of Leonida, the state Grand Theft Auto VI is set in, out November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar Games gave the city its own page on May 6, 2025, the day the second trailer landed, under the heading “Everything in Excess” and the line “We’re a long way from the ’80s, but Vice City is still the sun and fun capital of America.”
That page names four places inside the city, and four only:
The glamour, hustle, and greed of America captured in a single city. Each neighborhood has something to offer, from the pastel art deco hotels and bright white sands of Ocean Beach, to the bustling panaderías of Little Cuba and the bootleg brands of the Tisha-Wocka flea market, out to the VC Port, the cruise ship capital of the world.
Ocean Beach, Little Cuba, Tisha-Wocka, VC Port. Every other district name in circulation comes from somewhere else.
One of them needs correcting. Rockstar writes “Little Cuba”. Community location lists write “Little Havana”, and file “Little Haiti” next to it as a separate district. Only the first came out of the studio.
Rockstar has never said how many neighborhoods the city has. It has never published a map of Leonida either: not on May 6, 2025 alongside the 70 screenshots in 4K, not on August 27, 2026 with An Extended Look.

The August 27 video did add names. Bayside is a Vice City district Lucia says out loud around 12:32, at the end of a police chase, according to the shot-by-shot breakdown SVG published on August 28, 2026. Effluvia, a rooftop bar, turns up at 9:50. The headquarters of Megamundo, a fictional TV network, at 20:50.
Size is another blank. Rob Nelson, head of development at Rockstar North, told YouTuber TGG that “Vice City itself is twice the size of Los Santos,” and that the city with its suburbs runs 11 times Los Santos and its surroundings. Kotaku published the figures on August 27, 2026. They are spoken numbers rather than a studio measurement, and the arithmetic behind those ratios does not land. Density does carry one gameplay consequence, described by Vice on August 27, 2026: past three stars, losing the police is harder in Vice City than anywhere else, between narrow streets and permanent traffic.
Twenty years away from the city
Vice City gave its name to Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, released October 29, 2002 on PlayStation 2 in North America and set in 1986. That game holds 95 on Metacritic in its PS2 version, and had sold 17.5 million copies by March 2008, 14.2 million of them on PS2.
It is not the last game set there. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories is, released October 31, 2006 on PSP in North America and November 3, 2006 in Europe, following Victor Vance in 1984. Twenty years separate that release from GTA 6. It was pulled from the PlayStation Network on July 24, 2017, it is absent from The Trilogy Definitive Edition, and Rockstar has announced no reissue and no remaster.
