GTA 6 at 30fps: which TV features are worth paying for

Grand Theft Auto VI arrives on November 19, 2026 targeting 30 frames per second, or 33.3 ms per image. At that cadence a television is judged on its game mode latency, not on the 165 Hz printed across its spec sheet.

A screen bought for Grand Theft Auto VI is judged on one number above all: its input lag in game mode. Rob Nelson, co-director of Rockstar North, told Brazilian creator Davy Jones that console builds run at 30 frames per second, remarks carried by Kotaku on August 27, 2026. Digital Foundry counts that as 33.3 ms per frame on June 29, 2026, against 25 ms at 40fps and 16.7 ms at 60.

No screen price appears on this page. No United States reading was taken for it as of August 29, 2026, and turning a European figure into dollars would produce a number nobody was ever charged. What travels across the border is the part below: what a panel does with a 33.3 ms frame.

Feature What it does at 33.3 ms per frame Reading
Game mode Input lag falls from 80 to 120 ms down to 1 to 5 ms LeBonEcran, 2026 guide
VRR The PS5 window opens at 48 Hz, so 30fps sits under it KTC, May 1, 2026

The 120 Hz line on the box is the one to read twice. PS5 VRR works inside a 48 to 120 Hz window according to KTC’s May 1, 2026 guide, published by a monitor maker, and 30 frames per second falls below that floor. A 40fps mode would divide cleanly into 120 Hz, and none has been announced on any machine, PS5 Pro included. Les Numériques writes that the 165 Hz panel of the LG G6 earns its keep on PC with DSC compression, console output stopping at 120 Hz.

The largest gain here costs nothing. Game mode takes input lag from 80 to 120 ms down to 1 to 5 ms on a good panel, per LeBonEcran, and a March 13, 2026 comparison measured 0.1 ms on the LG OLED C5 and G5 against 20 ms on the TCL P755. Then the cable. LeBonEcran limits the 48 Gbps inputs on an LG set to HDMI 1 and 2, ports 3 and 4 capped at 18 Gbps, while Frandroid wrote on June 19, 2026 that LG and Samsung run full bandwidth on all four. The two disagree, and plugging into HDMI 1 settles it for nothing.

Which panels deserve a shortlist sits in our TV guide, the whole rig in the best GTA 6 setup, where the 30fps figure came from in our piece on Nelson’s remark, and what the four machines cost in console prices before GTA 6.
